Murray Speaks Out Against Costs of War with Iran
NEW LISBON, WI — Congressional Candidate and District 7 resident Ginger Murray
(D-New Lisbon) opposes this war with Iran, saying the costs — in lives, money, and
America's global reputation — are simply too high. "The losses were predictable," she
said, "and the costs of this war far outweigh any benefits."
Murray- referring to flag-draped coffins of fallen American soldiers returning home for the last time, shared a heartfelt comment, "I honor their service and their sacrifice, and offer my deepest sympathies to their families and loved ones."
She was deeply shaken by the bombing of a girls' school that killed more than 150 people — most of them children. Murray blamed President Trump directly. "The president and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth called the attack 'precise' and 'laser focused, but our own weapon killed those children in their classrooms,” noted Murray, characterizing the President’s rush to war as reckless.
Murray turned to the war's price tag for everyday people. The first week reportedly cost $12 billion. "This administration said food assistance and health care subsidies cost too much,” she said, “but it started a war that’s costing taxpayers a billion dollars every single day.”
Back home, people are feeling the pinch at the pump. For Northwoods loggers and truck drivers — many already hurting from paper mill closures — rising fuel costs make an already tough situation even tougher. Murray predicts more long-term costs are coming to taxpayers.
Murray sounded the alarm, declaring this war is costing America's standing in the world. Long-time allies are pulling back. The United Kingdom raised "serious questions" about its relationship with the U.S. and refused to let American forces use its military bases for offensive strikes. Germany is calling this war unjustified.
Murray reports the role reversals on the world stage are hard to reconcile. Ukraine — a country the U.S. has been slow to fully support — sent drone operators and pilots to help American forces. Meanwhile, Russia's government is calling the U.S. attack on Iran "a pre-planned and unprovoked act of armed aggression against a sovereign country." The United Nations has condemned the U.S. strikes and is calling for a ceasefire.
"It’s time to stand up and demand a stop to this war before we suffer more damage that can't be undone," Murray said.
