Ginger’s father, Lee Jazdzewski, born in the town of Nashville, WI, met her mother, Lou Duranceau, who was born in Merrill, WI, while they were both attending high school at D.C. Everest in Schofield, WI. Ginger Murray was born in Eau Claire, where her parents attended college. She lived in Rhinelander, Blackwell, Trump Lake, and Crandon. She credits her success to her family and her teachers. She was in a class of 36 students, taught by teachers who clearly loved their jobs and were fully invested in their students.After completing her undergraduate studies at UW Madison, where she earned a degree in Behavioral Science and Law with a Certificate in Criminal Justice, she decided to attend law school in Mississippi. There, she spent part of her second year and all of her third year working on capital murder defense. After graduating, she returned home to Forest County. While studying for the bar exam, she worked at the Blackwell Job Corps program, just as her father had done, and at the Veterans Memorial Campground.Her teachers encouraged her to run for District Attorney, and she did. While she did not win that election, she won over the judge and the people. The judge appointed her as Guardian Ad Litem, giving her the responsibility of representing children’s best interests, and later appointed her as the Forest County Family Court Commissioner. Members of the community hired her to assist with criminal cases, family cases, environmental law cases, and even to represent gaming commissioners for a tribe that believed they had been unfairly treated, which resulted in a settlement accepted as fair by all parties.Ginger accepted appointments as both Special Prosecutor and Public Defender. The Oneida County judges appointed her as their Family Court Commissioner. In that role, she served as a department head and worked cooperatively with county boards, demonstrating how to secure more federal funding than her department had ever received before. She was appointed and later reelected as the City Attorney for Crandon and hired as the Town Attorney for Laona.She held every elected position in the Oneida Vilas Forest County Bar Associations, served on the Crandon Lions Club, and was elected president. She served on the local Ruffed Grouse board for years. She worked with Judge Whitefish and Forest County law enforcement to create the first Coordinated Community Response Team for domestic violence situations. She was also on a bowling team, a softball team in Crandon and Wausau, shot darts, and played league pool in Forest County. She swam across Lake Metonga to prove she could, and later completed an Ironman. She participated as a student member of the Wabeno Mock Trial Team, and after returning from law school, she served as their coach.Ginger’s immediate and extended family include loggers, truckers who transport the logs, teachers, mental health professionals, farmers, former owners of a local bus company, small business owners, mechanics, IT specialists, and workers at the post office, the Rhinelander paper mill, local corrections facilities, fast food restaurants, and charitable foundations. Their experiences range from the ground up to top leadership, with some holding college degrees and many without.Ginger’s authentic and sustained relationships with family, peers, and community allow her to understand what her friends, relatives, colleagues, and Northwoods neighbors need to better provide for their families, ensure schools are fully funded, make quality health care affordable, secure jobs that pay fair wages and offer benefits such as insurance and retirement, and protect natural resources while supporting businesses that rely on those resources to harvest them sustainably.Ginger’s personal experiences include ice fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, and working in the North Woods, where perseverance, partnership, and pride run deep. These experiences give her the knowledge to properly represent us, we the people of the Northwoods. From small towns and county seats to forested back roads and isolated farmhouses, Ginger has listened, learned, and led alongside neighbors who believe community is stronger when we move forward together. She has seen firsthand that progress is built through cooperation, not division, and that Better Together is not just a slogan, but a way of life shaped by shared work, shared values, and shared responsibility.

Those early experiences led her to a career grounded in giving back to the community.</h3>Ginger was born in Eau Claire, WI on her mother's 20th birthday. Both her parents (graduates from D.C. Everest High School in Schofield) put themselves through college. Her father landed a good paying job at the papermill in Rhinelander while her mother worked at the Post Office. They lived in the little blue house across the street from the park: a house the family continues to own. Her dad then took a leap of faith, leaving his job to volunteer at the Job Corps Civilian Conservation Center. The family moved to Trump Lake, where their housing was obtained through her mom's work for the landlord's law office. Her father's gutsy move paid off and he was hired (the start of his lifelong career dedicated to serving troubled youth), which caused the family to move to the trailer court at his workplace in Blackwell, WI. Her dad joined the Wabeno Lion's Club. His work/community service made a lasting impression on Ginger, as did her mother's commitment to being available for her and her brother, even during the years she returned to complete her college degree.Ginger thrived in the small classrooms in the schools in Wabeno. She served as class president, student council representative, and most notably as a lawyer on the Wabeno Mock Trial team (which sparked her drive at age 16 to become an attorney). Judge Kinney, who judged her performance and encouraged her to go to law school, would later be one of three judges that offered her work as Family Court Commissioner in both Forest and Oneida Counties. Ginger took note of how that one act of encouragement of Judge Kinney would have such a profound impact on her life, and she vowed to have that type of impact on others during her career. This experience also helped form her belief in "Better Together".Ginger went on to obtain a B.A. in Behavioral Science &amp; Law, with a Certificate in Criminal Law at U.W. Madison. Her studies in Behavioral Science &amp; Law and work needed to earn a Certificate in Criminal Law at UW–Madison included hands-on work with the WI public defender (adult and juvenile), courts, and group/foster homes for children. With the support of UW faculty, court officials, and many others, Ginger went on to write a thesis on the likelihood of children who were placed out of the home, because parents did not/could not care for them, ultimately engaging in the behavior of their roommates who were in the juvenile court system due to breaking the law. This drew the attention of local juvenile prosecutors, juvenile judges and the juvenile detention centers/placements for juveniles. These moments shaped the leader she is today — grounded, pragmatic, curious, and committed to doing the work, research, and seeking the help of those with the power to help solve problems. That is what she will bring to northern Wisconsin families if elected to represent US in D.C..She then left WI to attend law school in Mississippi, where she was able to work with incredibly dedicated and talented attorneys (private and government) on capital murder cases, served as President of the Environmental Law Club, earned a scholarship which included attendance at a national Environmental Law conference in D.C., and earned a call back for a John Grisham Movie "A Time to Kill".Upon her return from law school, her prior Wabeno teachers asked her to run for D.A. It is noteworthy that this is another example of the impact of meaningful and authentic connections having lifelong implications. At the time she was approached, she did not yet have her WI bar exam results, so the timing issue caused the campaign to be as a write-in candidate (Ginger Jazdzewski: not an easy name to write in). Although her grassroots campaign largely led by her prior teachers and several local friends (bowling, softball and volleyball teammate) resulted in sufficient votes being cast to get her name on the ballot for the fall election, due to technical issues, not all the votes were counted. (Newpaper article on this is posted on FB.) While she did not win the election, she won the trust of her soon-to-be clients, and never had to advertise her law services in Forest County.Forest County Judge Robert Kennedy, Sr. began assigning her to the majority of the guardian ad litem work in the county which allowed her to have the rewarding role of serving the "best interest of the child" in cases. Judge Kennedy was the first judge to appoint her as the Circuit and Family Court Commissioner in 1999. Through her work as Commissioner she learned how to obtain federal funding for the counties she served. She also served as a contracted public defender and appointed special prosecutor in both Forest and Florence Counties. She was appointed and then re-elected as the City Attorney for Crandon, where she was integral in developing a TIF district, helped local law enforcement create new ordinances (creating more revenue for the city), and worked with the mayor and city council to improve main street businesses. She was able to secure the assistance of Senator Roger Breske/staff to obtain FEMA funds to help with the damage to the library construction caused by flooding. She served in all those capacities, as well Town Attorney for Laona, while also running her own law practice in which she represented clients including former Potawatomi appointed officials, federal government employees, property developers, and was even approached by but declined to pursue employment with those who attempted to develop a mine in the area. When she needed a little extra spending money for the holiday (while paying back those soul crushing student loans), and wanted a break from the legal work, she would gather Christmas tree boughs up at her family's cabin in Vilas County.As a small business owner and longtime legal professional, she used her skills to lead local (Oneida-Forest-Vilas County Bar) and state legal associations, and to provide support for worthy causes: supporting survivors through Judicare and Domestic Abuse Intervention Services, veterans and first responders through Wounded Warriors and Back to Basics Training, strengthening Wisconsin’s family court systems, coaching local students, and giving back to her hometown through the Crandon Lions Club.While Ginger entered the world of politics early in her career, due to the nastiness she endured in her last campaign, she and her husband decided that politics would not be an option until after their kids were on their own. Their daughters are now out of the house, with Genna having obtained a degree in Environmental Sciences from UW Madison, and Jaeli obtaining a scholarship to study International Business at the Darla Moore Business School at the University of South Carolina-Columbia. The time is ripe for this return to politics, and "for better or worse" Ginger's experience presiding over and advocating within divorces has taught her how to deal with all sorts of nastiness.Ginger is running for Congress because she’s tired of the division and performative politics that leave families and small businesses, "US", behind. She believes in collaboration over chaos, clarity over noise, and well reasoned solutions that provide real results for the lives they impact over grandstanding on political positions. Ginger reached out to the known fellow democrat candidates, as a professional courtesy, to inform them of her upcoming campaign and to assure them that she would not be engaging in any negative campaign tactics: a promise which was reciprocated. Honorable Robert E. Kinney is a retired Circuit Court Judge from Oneida County who served more than three decades on the bench. Widely respected for his fairness and commitment to the rule of law, Judge Kinney presided over civil and criminal cases throughout northern Wisconsin. After retiring, he continued public service as a reserve judge and as a referee for Wisconsin’s Office of Lawyer Regulation. Judge Kinney has also served on statewide ethics bodies and remains an active voice for constitutional integrity, judicial independence, and accountable government.

Northwoods woman launches bid for 7th Congressional seat

“Fighting” is not her method.&nbsp;"Fights end with one winner and one loser... a loser focused on winning the next fight. Reaching results through compromise allows both sides to win and move on to the next issue." Ginger's 30 years in advocacy has led to a settlement rate of nearly 90%, with both sides obtaining mutually acceptable results. For that other 10%, those take 90% of her time: work around the clock, researching every angle, considering every result, knowing which experts to rely on, knowing how to demonstrate who is credible, and who is not... to get the right results. Her experience and skills will be used to persuade: obtaining mutually acceptable well-reasoned results that improve life for our community, avoiding the perpetuation of divisiveness, when appropriate... and being the most prepared and persuasive when a compromise isn't suitable.&nbsp; She is ready to take those skills to DC to obtain results for Northwoods WI!

A New Way To Results

Ginger plans to separate herself from mainstream politics to earn the vacant seat for Congress: WI-7.&nbsp; With 30 years either presenting to the Courts or presiding over hearings, she knows how to identify the issues, research the option, and get to results! Because of her success in the court, her reputation allows her to settle nearly 90% of her cases out of court. "Results that stand the test of time, and not just the current term, are results obtained by rebuilding functional collaboration for everyone at the table, to serve all constituents... not just those who voted for you." She's ready to do the work to get those well reasoned results that serve our community. &nbsp; “We don’t move this district forward unless we move it forward together.”

Better Together

<h2>“You know, it used to be that politicians were well-regarded when they were able to reach across the aisle and broker deals with the other party,” Murray said. “When you find that common ground, you can build on it. Each would have faced an uphill fight against the incumbent Republican, US Rep. Tom Tiffany. But his decision to <a href="https://upnorthnewswi.com/2026/01/28/tom-tiffany-wins-trump-endorsement-governor/">run for governor</a> is giving the district’s Democratic candidates an opportunity to share their messages in earnest.Or perhaps it’s giving voters an opportunity to send their own message about a country where streets are filled with protests, tear gas, and violence from federal officers against not just minorities but everyone who dissents — all exacerbating tensions about high prices, massive layoffs, and cuts to government services.<h3><a href="https://www.facebook.com/reel/3107777612744485" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">WATCH a video summary from Pat Kreitlow’s interviews with all three candidates</a></h3>“I think most Republicans in office, if they didn’t feel their actions could come back to haunt them, would be more vocal about the fact that they too think this has gone too far,” said Murray, an attorney and Forest County native now living in New Lisbon.&nbsp;“I am absolutely confident that more and more of these people are going to come to our side and protect the republic,” said Armstrong, a computer programmer from New Richmond.“We always imagined the federal government being the source of stability and peace in a crisis, but now the federal government is the source of that chaos. And people are recognizing that across the political spectrum,” noted Clark, a former state Assembly representative from the Baraboo area, who served from the 2008 election until stepping down in 2014 and moving up north to Bayfield.<h3>Top issues: economy, health care, Trump’s chaos</h3>At nearly 19,000 square miles, <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wisconsin%27s_7th_congressional_district" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Wisconsin’s 7th Congressional District</a> is made up of all or parts of 20 counties. As a result, there are often multiple Democratic candidates out of happenstance more than personal competition.“I did not expect that I would be the only candidate,” said Armstrong. “There had to be similar people that felt the same way, that we just got to get out there and do something. It is challenging, you know, given the size of the district, considering it’s larger than the country of Denmark. Go figure.”But like many other districts — each averaging around 760,000 people — the candidates may come from widely-scattered areas while sharing similar priorities.“The economy and health care have been number one and number two,” said Clark. “And this administration has just been making both of those situations so much worse. We’re all going to be paying more for health care or having our access to health care reduced because of the impact on the rural health system of these cuts to Medicaid and the cuts to the Affordable Care Act.”“And there is just absolutely no excuse that everybody can’t have decent health care,” Armstrong said. “The Republicans seem to think that you have to work in order to get health care. I think that’s completely freaking backwards. You have to be able to be in good health to work.”“Getting affordable access to quality medical care,” said Murray. “Earning a meaningful wage so that you can take care of your family — at a job where you might get at least one week of paid vacation. Having schools that are safe for children and fully funded by the government.”The candidates see small businesses across the district getting hit by President Donald Trump’s economic policies.“I was in Spooner visiting business owners,” Clark said. “A number of them talked to me about the impact of tariffs on their businesses. If you’re running a retail shop selling clothing, you’re buying inventory six months to eight months in advance and a lot of product already has a 10% to 20% price increase built into it because of tariffs that the shippers and wholesalers are eating. This is just creating chaos and uncertainty for business.”Those traditional issues have been joined by another type of chaos brought upon the nation by Trump, especially just across the border in Minnesota.“It’s just been, you know, so disturbing, so disgusting,” Armstrong said. “It’s more than just that. I mean, roving thugs, illegally and unconstitutionally tagging people, pulling people out of cars, asking people for papers, interrogating them based on their skin color or their accent.”“I think what’s happening right now, the complete disregard for due process,” said Murray, “where we’re <a href="https://upnorthnewswi.com/2026/01/05/wisconsin-leaders-react-to-trumps-regime-change-in-venezuela/">capturing leaders of other countries</a> because we think they’re illegitimate. It is time to return control of our nation to the people.
