<p>New Lisbon, WI — Ginger Murray, atty. and Dem. candidate for Wisconsin’s 7th Congressional District, is calling on Congress to end the use of taxpayer dollars to quietly pay for political misconduct and reward political allies.<br></p><p>Since 1995, more than $17 million in taxpayer money has reportedly been used to settle congressional sexual harassment and misconduct claims.</p><p><span style="color: var(--color-text-accent-secondary); text-decoration-color: var(--color-text-accent-secondary);"><strong>“Taxpayers should never pay for politicians’ misconduct,” said Murray. “It is time to clean up the cover ups. They don’t protect victims, they protect predators.”</strong></span></p><p>Murray also criticized the newly announced DOJ “commission” tied to $1.8 billion in taxpayer funds for President Trump’s political allies and convicted felons.</p><p><strong>“Using $1.8 billion of our tax money to reward anyone that assaulted a police officer, incited or engaged in the insurrection, or committed a crime is not a settlement, it’s a shakedown,” </strong>Murray said.</p><p>Murray said both issues reflect the same problem: powerful people using public money to avoid accountability while working families struggle.</p><p>“Congress can’t seem to find funds needed to keep the lights on at our rural hospitals or pay promised funds to our public schools, but it can quietly cut checks to cover up misconduct by its own members?” Murray said. “Wisconsin families work too hard and pay too much in taxes for this political corruption and cover ups.”</p><p>As a member of Congress, Murray says she will support legislation requiring full disclosure of misconduct settlements, personal financial liability for intentional misconduct, and stronger oversight of claims paid with taxpayer funds.</p>

<p>The Alliance for Safe &amp; Prosperous Communities, NAOMI and area churches will host an interfaith prayer vigil Sunday for people organizers say have been harmed, killed or detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers.</p><p>The outdoor vigil will begin at 7:30 p.m. July 19 at St. Anne Catholic Church, 700 W. Bridge St., Wausau. Participants are encouraged to bring lawn chairs.</p><p>Organizers said the gathering will include reflection and prayer for the rights, dignity and humane treatment of immigrants. The vigil will also remember Lorenzo Salgado Araujo of Texas and Johan Sebastian Duran Guerrero of Maine, two men organizers said were killed by ICE officers this week.</p>

In “Straight Shooter,” the plain-talking candidate faces the camera, shotgun in hand, and destroys a piggy bank labeled “billionaire tax cuts.”</p><p>"I support real tax relief for our families," Murray said. "But Congress passed a bill that hands the overwhelming share of tax benefits to billionaires and corporations while cutting the essential programs that our families and rural communities depend on. That's not tax relief — that's a rigged system.” Murray added, <span style="color: var(--color-text-accent-primary); text-decoration-color: var(--color-text-accent-primary);">“I’ve got billionaire tax cuts in my sights when I go to Congress."</span></p><p>The numbers tell the story: under the new law, the average millionaire household pockets over $100,000 in tax relief. <p>The event will begin at 4pm with a welcome from the moderator. After the welcome, candidates will have the opportunity to give a 1 minute opening statement.&nbsp;<br></p><p>The bulk of the event will be dedicated to prepared&nbsp;questions from the chapter about land access, farmland preservation, and rural healthcare. Candidates will have 90 seconds to answer each question, plus an additional 30 seconds for closing statements after each topic section. Remaining time towards the end of the event will be dedicated to submitted attendee questions.&nbsp;<br></p><p>To close out, candidates will have the opportunity to deliver a 1 minute closing statement. The moderator will wrap-up the event promptly at 6:30pm so candidates are able to attend the Polk-Burnett Farm Bureau farm tour at 7pm.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Dark money is drowning out the voices of everyday Americans.</p><p>We cannot restore faith in our elections or in our democracy without getting dark money out of our campaigns. Corporations and billionaires should never be able to buy our elections. If elected to Congress, I will work diligently to remove dark money from our elections and return power to the people where it belongs.</p><p>I strongly support the We the People Amendment. It would end corporate personhood, overturn the Citizens United decision, allow Congress and the states to regulate money in politics, and require full public disclosure of political spending.</p><p>I believe in free speech. But you do not have to be a lawyer to recognize that corporations are not people and money is not speech.</p><p>Right now, corporate backed dark money groups can spend unlimited amounts in elections. Without transparency, voters have no way to follow the money.</p><p>While some of my opponents may be relying on special interest corporate money, I am proud to run a grassroots campaign supported by people across the Northwoods who believe our democracy should belong to the people.</p><p>I cannot wait to get to Congress and join the movement to make the We the People Amendment the law of the land.</p>

(WSAW) - 26 years after her first political run, which she lost, Democrat Ginger Murray is giving it another go.</p><p>This time for Congress.</p><p>After a debate in 2000 for the state assembly, someone tried to run her off the road. Her husband told the longtime lawyer no more politics until the kids are grown and out of the house.</p><p>That time is now....</p>

<p>“Kentuck Days” recognizes the mass migration of rural Kentucky residents to Forest County around 1900. The people of Kentucky came to Northern Wisconsin looking for jobs in the lumber industry, to take advantage of the abundant natural resources, to escape the violence of local feuds, and to join family members that had already moved.</p><p></p><p>**NOTE: Ginger will be attending from 9:00 AM - 9:45 AM &amp; Team Ginger will be attending for the rest of the day.</p>

<p>Join Ginger in Crandon on May 16 for a community canvassing day focused on collecting nomination signatures and connecting with voters across the district.</p><p>This is one of the easiest ways to step into a more active role in politics. No donations, no special experience, just your time, your voice, and ideally a friend or two. You will be talking with neighbors, sharing Ginger’s vision, and helping ensure voters have a real choice on the ballot.</p><p>We will meet at Your Family Law Center Office in Crandon at 11am to get organized, go over materials, and head out together.</p><p>If you have been looking for a simple, meaningful way to get involved, this is it. Show up, bring a friend, and be part of the work.</p>
